1949年，当共匪的魔掌正攫取大陆之时，中国南部某地，有美籍神父奥班年（威廉•荷顿饰），偕一中国少女秀兰（阮兰丝饰）骑驴赶着路程，朝向某一城镇进发，去接替该城天主教堂的包神父（克利夫顿•韦伯饰）工作，少女秀兰，天真慧黠，对奥神父颇为崇拜，且表心爱慕，她沿途絮絮不休，并向奥吐露爱意，奥不胜其烦，途至三里湾的兰福教堂，遂将秀兰托付李梅神父，自己则兼程赶路，但已经耽误了两天行程。。Nai与其弱智的哥哥Nung相依为命。他们认识了一个梦想成为歌星的女孩Pim，在 Nai 与 Pim之间有著微妙的感觉。后来Pim梦想成真，在一次的歌唱比赛中受到Thana 的赏识被栽培为歌星 。 不幸的是，Nung因为造成当地的流氓Berm被捕而遭其报复，两兄弟被逼逃亡。当 Nai 与 Nung 重遇 Pim 时 ， Thana 正在热烈追求Pim ...。As the youngest child who has never known her mother, Tasya (Gabriella Quinlynn) feels lonely.
